Online donation proceeds will benefit “UN Free & Equal”, an unprecedented global UN public information campaign aimed at promoting equal rights and fair treatment of LGBTI people, based on Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

With his band, WURST was touring in Poland, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland at the beginning of the year before interrupting the “T.O.M. – Truth Over Magnitude Tour 2020” with his electronic music program in order to tour with his orchestra program “From Vienna With Love” in Australia. The last dates on the electronic tour schedule in Europe could no longer take place due to the current situation.

That is why WURST will play the concert “T.O.M. Truth Over Magnitude Tour 2020” in full length with his full band in the Vienna Gösserhalle. The live gig will be streamed live in HD by Stream Austria on twitch.tv/streamaustria and can be viewed in real-time worldwide, while viewers can comment in chat, applaud virtually, send questions to WURST and send donations for a charitable cause. At the same time, the live stream will also be made available on Facebook, but without the mentioned additional functions.

“I am really looking forward to giving my fans a concert experience this way to thank them for their support. Since I do not play an instrument myself, I cannot accompany myself and did not offer musical contents during the lockdown, but started my own (week)daily talk show on Instagram instead. Stream Austria offered to broadcast my concert in top notch quality, and if I could not finish the European tour with my band, I am all the more pleased to bring the best live experience to my fans’s screens at least virtually this Sunday.“ says Tom Neuwirth alias WURST full of anticipation.

Stream Austria is an association for the support and promotion of Austrian art, culture and media technology, and will produce and broadcast the concert for free, with the support of 11 volunteers, seven cameras and excellent technical equipment. “With the motto Together instead of lonely, we want to use our live streaming project to offer local musicians and artists of different genres a stage and spread confidence and entertainment in society together with the artists. Additionally, together with the artists, we are collecting donations for people and initiatives who need our help.” says Richard Redl, co-founder and vice president of the non-profit organization Stream Austria.

During the concert, fans can submit donations for a good cause online on behalf of WURST. The proceeds of this evening go to the UN Human Rights’ global UN Free & Equal Campaign, built on the foundation of Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights “All people are born free and equal in dignity and rights.” Because still, in 2020, more than a third of the world’s countries criminalize consensual, loving same-sex relationships, entrenching prejudice and putting millions of people at risk of blackmail, arrest and imprisonment. Queer people face death penalty in several countries.
